ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

Where every day is a happy day.

At Outdoor Resort Indio, owners and guests have one thing in common: a desire to enjoy life.

No matter your interest, there is always something to do in the Resort. Start your day with morning yoga or water aerobics, a casual round of golf, or a pickleball game with friends.

Life continues in the afternoon with more fun - cards and games, arts and crafts, water volleyball, or lunch at the café.

Indulge and relax in any of the four pools in the Resort - swim, read a book, or take a short nap and enjoy the desert breeze.

GOLF

Image

Outdoor Resort Indio is rich in activities, and one of the most popular is the 18-hole golf course. This beautiful par-3 golf course weaves its way through all phases of the resort, taking all players, from the avid golfer to those just getting into the game, on a journey filled with palm trees, waterfalls, and the occasional family of ducks.

ORI’s golf course, two practice putting greens, and warm-up cages are free to all ORI owners and renters. Then, in addition to playing golf with your family and friends, ORI has an exciting and active golf club, offering organized golfing activities each week for those interested in meeting new friends in competitive but fun formats. Most organized events and membership in the golf club require a nominal fee.

The ORI golf club also offers numerous fun and popular events throughout the season. Events including, but not limited to the Ugly Sweater Scramble, Monster Golf, Kamikaze Golf, Individual and Couples Championships, and the resort-wide party Glowball.

Whether you’re sitting in your lot watching a white egret fishing in one of the ponds or enjoying a round of golf with friends, you will quickly see why the golf course has become the stunning center of our ORI community.

MEMBERSHIP

For just $20 per person, you can become a member of the ORI Golf Club. Your annual membership dues make you eligible for several special events throughout the season, including but not limited to Kamikaze Golf and Glowball. It allows you to establish and maintain your ORI handicap and pays for several events throughout the season, like burgers and dogs on the patio. Golf Club dues are also used to improve the golf course and enhance your enjoyment of playing the game at ORI.

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

Birdies and Skins

The game is in the name. Try making as many birdies as possible during the 18-hole round. You get a couple of dollars for each birdie made, but if you’re the only player to birdie a specific hole, you get a skin and the potential for a big payday.

Womens Golf

Come play with the ladies on Tuesday mornings. The 9-hole format is usually stroke play, with payouts for the lowest score and lowest number of putts. All skill levels are welcome, and don’t be surprised if the fun continues at the café for lunch after the round.

Couples Golf

Two couples are paired via a blind draw, forming a four-person scramble team. We play 18 holes with no drive requirements. This relaxed and fun format is one of the best ways to meet other couples - cash payout for the top finishers.

Friday Scramble

A four-person scramble team is formed via a blind draw. We place one ringer (better player) with each team to level the playing field as much as possible. We play 18 holes, and each team member must contribute at least two drives - cash payout for the top finishers.

Stroke Play Games

Saturdays are your chance to play your ball and leave the scramble formats behind. The organizers will explain the game of the day. You can utilize your ORI handicap as most games include gross (no handicap) and net (including handicap) payouts.

ANNUAL SPECIAL EVENTS

The title says it all. Wear your ugliest sweater to play in this fun and festive event. You can form your team, or we can pair you with other players. Prizes for the Ugliest Sweaters. Cash payout for the top finishers. This event is open to all golfers.

Monster Golf

The golf course will be set up as challenging as any US Open. All pins will be in the most monstrously difficult spots on every green. You must be an ORI Golf Club member to participate in this four-person scramble. You can form your team, or we can try to pair you with other players.

Bunion Wedge Match Play

This head-to-head match-play event is one of the most anticipated events each year, which offers both gross and net competitions. The winners walk away with bragging rights for the next year, while the runners-up get to sign the historic Bunion Wedge. You must be an ORI Golf Club member to participate in this event.

Kamikaze Golf

If you thought Monster Golf was crazy. Combine those difficult pin placements with playing the golf course backward. For example, we will hit 4’s green from number 1’s tee box to 13’s green from 12’s tee box, etc. Mostly, it’s a great deal of fun. You must be an ORI Golf Club member to participate in this four-person scramble event. You can form your team, or we can try to pair you with other players.

A B Team competition was established because of the overwhelming interest in participating in this event by both the ORI and MCC players. The same qualification as the Ryder Cup A Team applies.

End of Season Golf Event

The final golf event of the season is always bittersweet. Join old and new friends for a fun four-person scramble event. The format will be disclosed as we get closer to the event. You must be a member of the ORI Golf Club to participate in this event.
